Customs Management
What is GIA?
The solution called Gestion Integral Aduanera (Comprehensive Customs Management), is a computer platform for the control of customs operations of imports, exports and transit of merchandise.
It is an innovative and modern tool focused on the efficiency and effectiveness of each of its processes, meeting the needs of control, facilitation, transparency and security in international trade exchanges.
Its objective is to cover all areas of the maritime, air or land customs operation, relating in the system the various interlocutors: importers, exporters, freight agents, dispatchers, warehouses, agencies, state institutions, ministries (such as those of Health, Agriculture, livestock and mining), auditors, national and international transporters, banks and entities of the financial system All of them have available in the system the source of information and the tool for monitoring and managing operations, as well as full traceability of the merchandise.
Through the GIA you can also control the status of the cargo and the cost that the dispatch will imply.
How does the GIA work?
The system is based and designed in a way that allows each of the various operators that act in the process to declare the data of their operations in a centralized way. This allows all the actors involved in the process, when they come into contact with the operation, to interact and update data and information according to the tasks or controls they require, recording in real time what has been done by each body, authority or institution involved.
The use of the GIA system thus replaces papers with a more fluid platform, which also provides the possibility of further analysis and evaluation of the process.
The ministries, inspection bodies, controllers, customs, customs agents and dispatchers, interact in the operation electronically and provide specific knowledge to their task and everything that is linked to the operation in question. This facilitates foreign trade operations and allows the participation of the different organizations in a centralized manner. In addition, it speeds up the times of generation of procedures. On the other hand, it facilitates, modernizes, lowers the costs of the entire process and improves the commercial exchange channels between the various markets.
All this allows rigor, dynamism and permanent updating of the data throughout the process; and this information is generated directly by the agencies, authorities or entities that come into contact with the operations in each of their stages.
